Utrecht Car Market
The car market in Utrecht (NL) is one of the largest car markets in Europe, many buyers from all parts of the world visit our car market. Buyers can choose from approximately 2000 cars on offer every week.
The car market also has an indoor market, this is of interest to both the dealer (sales percentage is around 70%) and the buyer, who now has a wider choice of cars.

For visitors:
The market complex is situated in a residential area. Several municipal regulations are in force in order to limit inconvenience caused to the residents.
The car market is organised by the municipal market service. This governmental body works together with the police to strictly supervise the following rules:
- Dutch law prohibits sleeping in cars on public roads. You will be removed (fine Euros 100).
- Free parking for trucks, trailers and visitors. The visitors car park is open from 03.00 am.
- It is forbidden to park within 2 km of the car market.
- Buying and selling
- The market area is closed until 06:00 am. It is not permitted to be present earlier than this time. You will not be admitted! Parking on access roads is forbidden (fine Euros 100).
- cars is strictly forbidden:
- on the access and exit roads of the complex
- on the visitors car park
- on the loading and unloading area of the market
- before market trading commences (06:00 am)
What to look for when buying a car
- Dutch car documentation consists of four parts, namely:
- Registration document part IA or I;
- Registration document part IB or II;
- Transfer document copy part III;
- Valid APK report;
- Number plates (GAIK)
- Check the chassis number against the car documents.
- Self drive:
APK/TUV necessary;
- Check the APK/TUV report;
- Transit number compulsory;
- Transit number plates compulsory;
- Insurance compulsory.
- Transport on a trailer:
- Driving on public roads with de-registered yellow number plates is forbidden.
- At the end of trading, all vehicles must be insured, provided with the correct car documents and transit plates, and have left the market area.
