The former Finance Minister of the European Union introduced new regulations regarding refunds on vehicle luxury taxes. Cars with registration dates in Holland from 16 October 2006 on, are eligible for such a tax refund provided that the car in question will be registered in the EU system. The tax share for a new vehicle is roughly 45%. The tax percentage for used cars is predetermined by the Ministery of Finance in Holland.
